for each raindrop an angel
falling delicately toward every destination
a message from above the sky delivered to the roots
speaking in colors and scents that permeate Oakland

like hidden melodies dreaming in the heartbeats
that drum our footsteps
toward our places of being here
or there beyond our sittings and standings
our conversations and silences
that speak in spite of our indifference or empathy
like caresses the mist glistening our faces
breathing in the history of the sky and earth
breathing out our love and joy and agonies
branching out along the story of this place
all these make the rain that is now
and the rain makes us now
and the now makes us rain
and the angels take us there
from the sky to the earth
